Nip + Fab aims to set a new standard for transparency in the beauty industry with its three-product skincare system, The Fix. The brand is publishing the complete recipe for each product, including precise ingredient quantities, full clinical testing reports, and commercial cost data.

Michael Hume, Managing Director of Nip + Fab, stated this is a movement to rebuild trust with sceptical consumers. "Skin care has become noise and misinformation, and we wanted to remove it rather than add to it," he said. The brand's goal is to democratise access to high-efficacy formulas.

A New Benchmark in Openness

The Fix line consists of a serum, a cream, and a sunscreen. For each, Nip + Fab will disclose not only the ingredient list but the exact levels used-information typically kept secret by brands. Full testing portfolios, including clinical studies, lab results, and raw supplier data, will also be published online. This includes reports on tests the products did not initially pass.

Also, the brand will share commercial information detailing the costs of all elements that go into creating the products. Hume told Cosmetics Business the brand is essentially giving the formula away for free, with only the method of manufacture withheld. "Essentially, anyone could copy the formula that we are producing," he admitted.

Expert Scrutiny and Organic Marketing

Ahead of the launch, Nip + Fab provided the products to 200 unpaid industry experts, including cosmetic scientists and engineers, for unbiased testing. These experts are free to share their opinions, including any flaws they find, without obligation. The brand is forgoing traditional influencer paid partnerships and celebrity endorsements, opting instead for a LinkedIn-first approach to leverage authoritative voices.

Hume explained the strategy: We are not going to be doing influencer paid partnerships. He added that having trusted voices accredit this new standard of transparency could help democratise access to the best skincare.

The Three-Product System

Two years in development, The Fix is positioned as an elevated, simplified routine for all skin types, targeted at those aged 30 and over. The system is designed to provide a complete morning and night treatment in three steps. The products and their key actives are detailed below.

ProductPriceKey Actives & Concentrations
The Fix Serum£69.953% BIO-placenta, 30% Solalift WP, 5% Niacinamide PC
The Fix Cream£69.952% RejuveNAD, 2% Cellaigie, 5% SK Influx Evolvem
The Fix UVA Daily Shield£59.951% Photobiome, 0.2% Dragosine, CycloRetinTM 0.3%*

*CycloRetinTM 0.3% is included in all three products.

The sunscreen is rated SPF50+ (with tests showing SPF 77) and PA++++. It has also achieved Boots’ 5-star UVA rating in the UK, which Hume called by far the most grueling UVA standard globally to achieve. He noted that mixing such a high-level sunscreen with an active ingredient at this price point is unusual, contributing to its cost.

Democratising High-Performance Skincare

While The Fix's prices are nearly double those of Nip + Fab's existing range (£15-£35), Hume argues the value is exceptional. He claims the brand avoids costs like elaborate packaging and big PR events to keep prices down. We do not do any of those things, which means we can sell a £280 formulation for £60, he said, referring to the sunscreen.

Publishing the product profit and loss statements will show consumers how much they pay for marketing versus the product itself. Hume stated this is to shows how tough it is for a business like us to make money, when you do the right thing first. The only ingredient not fully disclosed is a seven-filter system making up 23% of the sunscreen formula, withheld at the manufacturer's request. The Fix serum, cream, and sunscreen launch on 29 September.
