Concerns: Amorepacific Ventures has invested in biotech firm Junevity to collaborate on discovering novel skin-aging pathways

Amorepacific and Junevity announced a strategic collaboration on September 29, 2026, to advance skin-aging research for cosmetic applications. The partnership, announced simultaneously in San Francisco and Seoul, includes a strategic investment from Amorepacific Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the Laneige owner. Amorepacific will lead the development and commercialisation of resulting cosmetic products, while Junevity will advance therapeutic applications of its platform under a separate licensing agreement.

This move signals a major shift toward longevity-focused skincare. It addresses growing consumer demand for science-backed anti-aging innovations. The collaboration aims to discover pathways suitable for cosmetic applications to reset and rejuvenate skin gene networks toward a healthier state.

Research Focus

The collaboration centers on using Junevity's RESET Platform to discover novel skin-aging pathways for cosmetic rejuvenation. Junevity's platform uses human disease omics, genetic linkages, and machine learning and artificial intelligence to identify novel transcription factor targets. This target-discovery engine will be combined with Amorepacific's extensive skin biology knowledge and commercialisation capabilities.

The goal is to discover and validate skin-aging pathways for cosmetic applications. The partnership demonstrates the breadth of Junevity's scientific approach. It has the potential to open new markets and create long-term value.

Expert Insights

Leadership from both companies emphasized the partnership's potential to transform skin health through advanced gene network research. John Hoekman, co-founder and CEO of Junevity, stated the partnership enables exploration of novel skin ageing pathways and hybrid technologies across adjacent fields. "We are excited to be working with Amorepacific, a leader in skin science, to explore the potential of our technology in skin care," Hoekman said.

Brian Byung-Fhy Suh, Chief Technology Officer of the Amorepacific R&I Center, echoed this vision. He stated that the collaboration will inform future skin health innovations through research on gene networks and transcriptional regulation in longevity. This work will enable the exploration of novel skin-aging pathways.

The partnership extends beyond skincare. Industry observers note that hair longevity is described as beauty's next big movement. Junevity's own pipeline extends into therapeutic areas, with its lead siRNA candidate for obesity headed into human clinical trials. The collaboration between the beauty giant and the biotech firm closes on its core goal: to discover and validate skin-aging pathways for cosmetic applications.
