BSF Enterprise Secures Decade-Long Deal for Bioactive Peptide in Cosmetics

BSF Enterprise has entered a 10-year exclusive partnership with German consultancy SCHAKAU Managementberatung to bring its bioactive peptide, ETSYL, to the global cosmetics market. The peptide, also known as palmitoyl pentapeptide-87, was originally developed for tissue engineering but is now being positioned for skincare applications linked to collagen production. ## Exclusive Rights and Commercialization Strategy Under the agreement, SCHAKAU will hold worldwide commercialization, distribution, and licensing rights for ETSYL, subject to annual volume targets. The company plans to feature the peptide as a key active ingredient in its luxury skincare brand, HANDS OF GOD, while also pursuing licensing deals with other cosmetics manufacturers. SCHAKAU has allocated around €300,000 for clinical testing, regulatory compliance, brand development, and international distribution. BSF’s subsidiary, 3D Bio-tissues, will handle the manufacturing and supply of ETSYL, while BSF retains full ownership of the intellectual property. The company will also receive 50% of net licensing income generated from third-party brand integrations. ## Capital-Light Market Entry and Industry Expansion The partnership allows BSF to enter the global cosmetics ingredients market without bearing the full cost of clinical trials, regulatory work, or commercial development. SCHAKAU will shoulder much of this responsibility, enabling BSF to focus on its core strengths while still benefiting from the peptide’s commercial success. By pursuing third-party licensing agreements, SCHAKAU aims to expand ETSYL’s reach beyond its own brand, potentially establishing the peptide as a widely recognized cosmetic active. This strategy could broaden the ingredient’s adoption across the industry, benefiting both BSF and its partners.
